About Me
Hi, I’m Laya! I arrived in Las Vegas a year ago and quickly realized that adapting here would be more challenging than in any other region I’ve lived in (and I’ve lived everywhere from the frigid hills of Vermont to the allergy hubs of Kentucky).
Now, as a recent college graduate navigating some new chronic conditions, I’ve been exploring social scenes around Las Vegas in search of community and connection.
If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I love learning and understanding new experiences. I connect easily with people from all walks of life — from age 22 to 72 — because I truly believe we never stop learning. For a short list of my interests, see below.

Laya organizes Rest & Reconnect LV.
After moving across different parts of the United States, one pattern kept showing up: most community spaces were hard to access, high-pressure, or unrealistic to participate in.
Las Vegas made that problem impossible to ignore.
So Rest & Reconnect LV took shape as a different option.
It centers shared time, clear expectations, and practical access. People choose how they participate. No one is expected to perform, overshare, or fit a specific personality or lifestyle.
Outside of organizing, interests range widely.
Drawing, digital art, and nonfiction writing sit alongside plant care, gardening,
and working with animals.
Web design, small hardware projects, and general computing round out the technical side.
Movement shows up through dancing, martial arts, and hiking.
Shared interests are secondary.
What matters is making room for different people to show up without unnecessary barriers.
